TEASER:

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

An older motor boat drifts lazily on the surface of the ocean. We dive into the water. At first we don't see anything, but as we travel deeper, we see the shadow of Sam, not breathing, hands stretched out.

We see his face, and then circle around him, just as we do we see a strange electrical surge emanating from the scar in the back of his head. With every surge, Sam's whole body twitches slightly. And with the third surge he opens his eyes and moves around in shock. He swims up to the surface.

                                    END OF TEASER:

                                    ACT ONE:

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

As Sam breaks the surface of the water he looks around apprehensively. In the distance he sees a dot, which is Kylan's boat.

He does a 360 until he sees the small boat, a few yards away.
He swims to it, and with some effort is able to board it.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - ON BOARD THE BOAT

Sam tries to warm himself. He's obviously very cold, shivering and wet. He wipes away the blood from his face and gets up with difficulty to try and turn the ignition of the boat on. But all he hears is a benign click and nothing happens. He tries a few more times but with the same results.

He makes his way to the engine at the back of the boat and tries to manually start it, but nothing. He opens the gas tank and sees that there is gas there. He closes it and tries to start the engine again, but nothing.

He looks around in the boat for anything he can use, but could only find one life jacket.

Finally when he's absolutely tired he sits in the corner trying to warm himself. Slowly he drifts to sleep.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - DAY

Sam slowly opens his eyes. Everything is in a haze. He feels the back of his head in pain. When he looks up he sees a figment of his imagination sitting with him on the boat.
It's his FATHER, dressed in priest's attire.

                     SAM
        Dad?!

Sam gets up and settles himself in a more or less comfortable position. He is a bit drier now.

                     SAM (cont'd)
                (not interested)
        What are you doing here?

                     FATHER
                (smiles)
How did you get into this mess?

                     SAM
        Because I listened to you.

The dad looks at him inquisitively.

                     SAM (cont'd)
You filled my head with these ideas
that God wants us to look out for each
other. That if we do our part then
He'll protect us. Well, dad, look
around you. He doesn't seem to be
        protecting anyone.

                     FATHER
        You don't mean that Sam.

                     SAM
Oh yes I do. I just have a question
for you dad, why is it that you made
me feel like crap, while you didn't do
half of the stuff you lectured me on?

Sam starts looking through the boat again, hoping he might have missed something here or there.

                     FATHER
I was a busy man, Sam. I had an
entire congregation to take care of.

                     SAM
A congregation full of sons? You
always have an excuse ready. Is God
anything like you? Because it feels
like he is. All rules, but never
        there when you need Him.

EXT. PARK BY THE OCEAN

ALLISON and ETHAN sit under a tree in a park facing the ocean, and a boat renting place. It's a nice location.
Ethan takes out a hot drink and hands it to Allison who seems distracted.

At this point she gets a phone call, which she answers hurriedly.

                     ALLISON
Hello... Oh.. Yeah... Can I give you a
        call a little later? Bye.

Allison puts away her phone.

                     ETHAN
        You still thinking about him?

                     ALLISON
        I'm not a fun date, am I?

                     ETHAN
        Don't say that! It's every guy's
dream to have his date thinking about
        someone else.

Allison looks at him hurt.

                     ETHAN (cont'd)
I didn't mean it that way... Tell you
        what, I have a friend who's pretty
resourceful. She might be able to
        help you find Sam.

Allison looks up at him hopefully.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - ON BOARD THE BOAT

Sam has a bottle of water in his hand. He sips from it carefully, and then puts it to the side. He looks at his dad, who sits there quietly, looking at the endless ocean.

                     SAM
        You enjoying the view?

                     FATHER
You have to admire God's creation.

Sam chuckles sarcastically, and his father looks at him.

                     FATHER (cont'd)
Let it out Sam. What is really
        bothering you?

                     SAM
I'm stranded in the middle of the
ocean in a boat that doesn't work,
what do you think is bothering me?

                     FATHER
Let's not play games. If you have
something to say, just come out and
        say it.
                (leans forward)
I'm just a figment of your imagination
        anyway.

                     SAM
        Jennifer!

FLASHBACK. CHURCH

Sam's father is finishing up at church. He's greeting a few people after the service. At the end of the line JENNIFER waits. Once she gets to him the smile on his face falls and he turns around without acknowledging her.

                     JENNIFER
Is this any way to treat a member of
        your congregation?

                     FATHER
You're not a member of my
        congregation.

                     JENNIFER
        You're right, I'm more than that. I'm
        your son's fiance.

The Father turns to her and meets her eye with an unwelcoming gaze.

                     JENNIFER (cont'd)
Why can't you accept me? I love your
        son and he loves me.
                (she clears her
                throat uncomfortably)
Do you know how hard it is for me to
come here? I've tried to do
everything to please you. I even
        started attending your Church.

                     FATHER
That's the problem. It'll always be
my Church and not yours. If you
really love my son, then just let him
go. He's not right for you.

                     JENNIFER
That's not for you to decide.

                     FATHER
Jennifer, you have no intention of
accepting the faith and this is an
integral part of who we are. How can
you expect to marry Sam, if you can't
        accept who he is.

                     JENNIFER
I've accepted Sam. The problem is you
can't see beyond your traditions. You
see me as this monster who's trying to
steal away your son. I'm not that
        person.

                     FATHER
If you continue down that road, then
        you are.

Jennifer is deeply hurt and walks away.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - ON BOARD THE BOAT

                     SAM
How could you, dad? You had no right
        interfering in my life.

Sam looks away from his father.

                                    END OF ACT ONE:

                                    ACT TWO:

EXT. ALLISON'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Allison waves goodbye to Ethan who drives away.

INT. ALLISON'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

She heads towards her apartment only to be surprised, by Fr. Moses waiting for her.

                     ALLISON
Fr. Moses! What brings you here?

                     FR. MOSES
Um, I haven't seen you at church for a
while. So I wanted to check that
        you're alright.

Allison looks at him a bit awkwardly.

                     ALLISON
Thanks, but you could've just called.

Fr. Moses seems a bit hesitant.

                     FR. MOSES
There is another matter that I
would... rather... talk to you in
        person about.

Allison expects more, but Fr. Moses, seems to get even more hesitant. Finally, he lets it out.

                     FR. MOSES (cont'd)
Have you seen Sam? I mean, I know you
two are... friends... So I was just
        wondering.

                     ALLISON
        No. I haven't seen Sam. I've
        actually been pretty worried about
him. He usually calls me daily, but I
haven't heard from him for a couple of
        days now.

                     FR. MOSES
Maybe, we should call the police.

                     ALLISON
                (urgently)
No. No. That's not going to be
        necessary.

Fr. Moses looks at her a bit bewildered.

                     ALLISON (cont'd)
Just give me a day. I might have
        another way.

                     FR. MOSES
        Alright.

Fr. Moses seems to want to say something, but then smiles and starts on his way out.

                     ALLISON
Fr. Moses, is there anything else?

Fr. Moses looks at her for a moment as if he wants to say something more, but then changes his mind.

                     FR. MOSES
No. No. Just let me know if you find
        anything about Sam.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - ON BOARD THE BOAT

                     FATHER
                (calmly)
Jennifer had no intention of going
        through with your marriage plans.

                     SAM
You didn't know that Dad. You never
stopped to consider that you might
        just be wrong.

FLASHBACK. INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE

                     FATHER (V.O)
Perhaps the way I treated Jennifer was
wrong, but you know deep down, that
even though I was wrong, it turned out
        for the best.

Sam is dressed in a bullet proof vest, wielding a gun with five other SWAT officers dressed in the assault cloths. They scream warnings as they burst into the warehouse

                     SAM
This is the Police. Everyone on the
        ground.

As they enter there are four individuals who get startled with the police. They are gathered around a white van, and seem that they just finished packing it and are getting ready to drive it off. One of them foolishly takes out a gun to fire at the police, but one of the assault force fires at him taking him down.

The SWAT officers secure the criminals, and open the back of the van to see a bunch of unconscious homeless people in the back.

A fifth criminal who was in the driver seat of the Van gets out from the passenger side and runs. No one is able to get a good look at him. The criminal is dressed in a hooddie.

                     SAM (cont'd)
        Freeze.

But the criminal doesn't slow down. Sam holsters his gun and pursues him on foot.

FLASHBACK. INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - ANOTHER AREA

Sam runs after the criminal. They exit the warehouse into a narrow alley.

FLASHBACK. EXT. NARROW ALLEY

Sam runs through the alley as the criminal throws a bunch of barrels in his way. Sam jumps over top the obstacles in his way, until he finally catches up with the criminal and tackles him down.

Sam uncovers the hooddie and is surprised. It's Jennifer.

                     SAM
        Jennifer! What are you doing?

                     JENNIFER
I'm so sorry Sam. I was in it for the
        money.

                     SAM
How deep are you involved with them?

Jennifer doesn't respond.

                     SAM (cont'd)
        Did you kidnap these people?!

                     JENNIFER
                (crying out of panic)
No. I just drove the car. Oh God,
Sam. I messed up. I didn't mean for
anyone to get hurt. Please, Sam you
        gotta believe me.

Sam lets her up; his gun trained at her.

                     SAM
Who's paying you? Who are you working
        for?

                     JENNIFER
I don't know. I just had to drive the
van here. They pay me and I leave. I
don't know anything about what's in
the van. I don't know about any
        kidnappings.

Sam lowers his gun. Jennifer looks unsure what to do next.

                     SAM
        Go.

She doesn't move

                     SAM (cont'd)
                (more forcefully)
        Go.

Jennifer backs up and runs. Sam is visibly disappointed.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - ON BOARD THE BOAT - NIGHT

                     SAM
I lost her because of you.

                     FATHER
How can you even be sure that she
wasn't involved with these people even
when she was with you Sam? She
could've been lying the whole time.
Remember she could've come back, but
        didn't.

At this point there is a strong gust of wind that rocks the boat. Sam looks up at the sky, and although it's getting dark, Sam could see thick clouds forming. A second later there is a flash of lightning followed by a thunderous roar.

                                    END OF ACT TWO:

                                    ACT THREE:

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

A storm rages. Sam is barely able to stay in the boat.

                     SAM
Just when I thought it couldn't get
        any worse.

Sam is holding on for dear life as the boat gets tossed around dangerously. A big wave covers him for a second, and dumps an alarming load of water into the boat.

FLASHBACK. GARBAGE INCINERATION FACILITY

Sam wakes up in the body bag. (From the first episode)

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

The storms continue to rage.

FLASHBACK. ABANDONED ROAD

Sam almost gets hit by Allison's car.

Jump forward a few seconds as a headache sweeps his head as he gets his first vision

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

Sam holds on for dear life and starts to recollect some events.

FLASHBACK. EXT. STREET

Sam walks down the street, when he notices a girl sitting at a bench with her face buried in her hands, obviously crying.
The girl wears old clothes. She looks homeless.

Sam is about to pass her without another look, when his headache starts. He's propelled into a vision.

VISION. APARTMENT ROOF TOP

The same girl wearing the same clothes, stands on the edge of a roof facing a twenty story drop. Sam sees her from the back. She steps off.

FLASHBACK. EXT. STREET

Sam makes his decision and goes and sits beside her. For a moment she doesn't notice him. He clears his throat.

                     SAM
        I couldn't help but notice you're
        upset...

The girl looks up at him and he chokes on the rest of his sentence. It's Jennifer.

                     SAM (cont'd)
        Jennifer!

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

The storm has subsided. Sam lies in the boat, wet and with water 3 inch deep in the boat. He slowly passes out.

EXT. ABANDONED STREET

Allison drives down an abandoned road, heading to her meeting with Ethan's friend.

Allison decides to park some ways off and walk to the location of the meeting. As she gets out of the car and walks towards the meeting, Fr. Moses' car stops and he gets out and catches up with Allison.

Allison looks at him bewildered.

                     ALLISON
What are you doing here? Are you
        following me?

                     FR. MOSES
Sorry Allison, but I'm not about to
let anything bad happen to you. I
        can't live with that again.

                     ALLISON
Again? What do you mean again?

                     FR. MOSES
How well do you know what happened to
        your father?

That gets Allison's attention.

                     ALLISON
What do you know about my father?

                     FR. MOSES
A great deal actually. That's one of
the reasons I came to you yesterday.
I've been postponing it for far too
        long.

Allison stops dead in her tracks.

                     ALLISON
Please, tell me everything you know.
The last time I saw my dad was when I
was 10 years old. I need to know
anything about him. Why did he get
        arrested? How did he die?

Before Fr. Moses could say anything, Ethan, KYLAN, HESTER and BUTCH walk up to them from behind Allison. Once Kylan sees Fr. Moses the atmosphere tenses up.

                     FR. MOSES
        You?

Allison turns around and is perplexed to see Kylan.

                     ALLISON
                (to Ethan)
I thought I could trust you. What are
you doing with the likes of her?

Ethan looks lost.

                     ETHAN
This is the friend I told you about.
        You know each other?

                     FR. MOSES
                (to Kylan)
Where is Sam? Last time I saw him he
        was with you?

Allison looks from Kylan to Fr. Moses.

                     ALLISON
                (to Fr. Moses)
And you didn't bother to tell me that?

Fr. Moses steps toward Kylan.

                     FR. MOSES
Please, I beg you, you don't have to
        go down this dark road?

But before Fr. Moses could reach Kylan, Butch steps in and punches him in the stomach, winding him.

                     KYLAN
Maybe he decided to leave without
saying goodbye. Have you ever thought
        about that?

Butch then kicks Fr. Moses in the face, sending him tumbling back.

                     ALLISON
        Stop!

Ethan tries to intervene.

                     ETHAN
        What's going on?

Allison helps Fr. Moses up. When Ethan tries to help, she pushes him away.

                     ALLISON
        Get away from us.
                (to Kylan)
Please, tell us, where Sam is?

                     KYLAN
Why should I tell you anything? Now
if you decide to reestablish our
        business relationship, I might be
        inclined to share some information.

                     FR. MOSES
        No. Don't do it.

Allison locks stares with Kylan. She's trying to decide what to do, but Fr. Moses tugs at her arm.

                     FR. MOSES (cont'd)
        Let's go.

She follows Fr. Moses' lead.

                     KYLAN
        Suite yourself.

As Fr. Moses and Allison walk away, they pass by Kylan's SUV.
Fr. Moses notices that there are scratches around the hitch, and wires dangling out. It appears that the SUV was recently used to pull a boat.

                     FR. MOSES
I think I have a clue where Sam might
        have ended up.

                                    END OF ACT
                                    THREE:

                                    ACT FOUR:

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - DAY

Sam's boat drifts lazily on the surface of the water. He's piled in a corner shivering from the cold. His lips are dried from the salt water. His dad is there.

                     FATHER
You don't look too good Sam.

Sam doesn't answer, but continues shivering. He looks up and sees a cruise ship far off in the horizon.

He gathers all his strength and yells for help.

                     SAM
Help. Hey, over here. Help. Please.

But they are just too far away to even notice him.

His hope dwindles, and then looks at the ocean, distantly.

                     FATHER
                (carefully)
        What are you thinking?

                     SAM
How long do you think before
hypothermia kicks in, you know, if I'm
in the water? I hear it's a peaceful
        way to go.

                     FATHER
Don't give up Sam, God hasn't left
        you.

                     SAM
        Really, Dad? Really? Bringing God
into this. What's he done so far?

Sam steps close to the edge and looks at the turbulent water.

FLASHBACK. ROOF TOP

Jennifer stands on the edge of the roof top, crying, looking down in hopelessness.

Sam comes running from behind her.

                     SAM
        Jennifer

                     JENNIFER
        Don't come any closer Sam.

Sam stops dead in his tracks.

                     SAM
You don't want to do this.

                     JENNIFER
There is nothing to live for anymore.
You were right to leave me Sam. I
would've dragged you down with me.

                     SAM
Don't say that. Jennifer, what we had
was real. We loved each other, but
maybe the situation just wasn't right
        at the time.

                     JENNIFER
No, your dad was right. I wasn't
right for you. This is what I'm
        destined for.

Jennifer inches closer to oblivion.

                     SAM
                (panicked)
No. Jennifer. Please don't do it.
You think this is going to end your
pain, but you don't know that for
        sure, do you?

That attracts Jennifer's attention.

                     SAM (cont'd)
How do you know what awaits you on the
other side is not even worse than what
        you're going through now.

                     JENNIFER
How could it be any worse?

Sam walks yet closer to her.

                     SAM
        Talk to me Jennifer.

Jennifer sobs quietly.

                     JENNIFER
        I'm so alone, Sam.

Sam notices the injection marks on her arms. She looks like she's been using drugs for a while.

                     SAM
God is here with you. Don't turn your
        back on Him.

                     JENNIFER
Do you really believe that? Even if
there is a God, what would he want
        with me?

                     SAM
He loves you just the way you are.
He's not asking you to change before
you come to him. He's asking you to
come to him so you can change.

Jennifer stops crying, but she's still dangerously close to the edge. Sam finds his opportunity to move closer to her.

                     SAM (cont'd)
Whatever bad things that happened to
you, God can take it and change them
        for your good.

                     JENNIFER
        Do you really believe so?

                     SAM
        Yes. Yes I do.

Jennifer starts to turn around, but then she loses her balance and falls.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - DAY

Intercut scenes of Jennifer falling off the roof top, with Sam losing his balance and falling off the boat.

FLASHBACK. ROOF TOP

Sam is able to lunge and catch her just in time. With a lot of effort he pulls her up.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - DAY

Intercut the scene of Sam pulling her up, with Sam recovering himself before he falls into the water.

He pulls himself together and sits in the corner of the boat.

He looks at his dad, who smiles at him and then vanishes into thin air.

FLASHBACK. ROOF TOP

Sam sits back against a wall, while Jennifer is curled in his arms crying.

                     SAM
It's going to be alright. In time,
        God will make everything better.

                     JENNIFER
        A year ago, I wouldn't have believed a
word you said to me Sam. But after
what I've seen in the world, the hope
that there is a God who loves me for
who I am, is what I need now.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - DAY

Sam is curled up in the corner. His face says all that is in his heart. He's wishing for a miracle to get him out of this situation.

EXT. BOAT DOCK - EVENING

Fr. Moses and Allison talk to a ship dock employee

                     FR. MOSES
Do you have any boats rented out to a
        Samuel Stone?

The Dock Employee looks through his computer.

                     EMPLOYEE
Yeah. He rented it out 3 days ago

                     ALLISON
3 days ago? And you didn't send out
any search party to look for him?

                     EMPLOYEE
Why? He paid for a week's rental?

                     ALLISON
This doesn't sound like something Sam
        would do.

Allison takes a picture of her and Sam together and shows it to the employee.

                     ALLISON (cont'd)
Is this the man you rented to?

The employee looks at the picture.

                     EMPLOYEE
No Ma'am. Now if you don't mind I
have a whole bunch of stuff to finish.

Fr. Moses and Allison start heading back to his car. Fr. Moses looks quiet Sad.

                     ALLISON
I don't understand. Could it be
        another Samuel Stone?

                     FR. MOSES
I've dealt with people like Kylan
        before, when they are cornered,
they'll do anything to save their
skins. And Sam cornered them. I
think they got rid of him.

                     ALLISON
                (shocked)
        What?

Allison turns and looks at the open ocean.

                     ALLISON (cont'd)
You mean, they... How do you know
that? You can't know that for sure!
Maybe they just forced him to leave
town. It could be a hundred different
        things.

Fr. Moses takes her by the shoulders.

                     FR. MOSES
I was involved with Reaver before. I
worked for him. I know what he's
        capable of.

                     ALLISON
        What? But you're a priest.

                     FR. MOSES
        I wasn't always a priest.

A tear drops from her eyes, but she wipes it off quickly.

                     ALLISON
        No. I can't accept that he's just
gone. Sam risked his life for
strangers. He can't just be gone.
I'll go look for him myself.

Allison walks back to the dock.

                     FR. MOSES
        What are you doing?

                     ALLISON
He's some where out there. I can feel
        it.

EXT. OPEN OCEAN - NIGHT

Out in the ocean, it's pitch black night. Visibility is next to nothing. But then he hears it. A sound of an engine far away, and could see a dim moving spot light. Sam starts to scream, but his voice is gone.

                     SAM
Hey. Over here. Please. Over here.

But then the light starts to turn, and the engine sounds starts to get dimmer and dimmer.

Sam looks around frantically, then he makes a tough decision.

He takes off his shirt and finds a life jacket, and rips off the plastic tube that's connected to it. Sam inserts the plastic tube into the gas compartment of the engine and sucks out gas, and soaks his shirt with it. Then he inserts his gas soaked shirt into the gas compartment.

He finds a couple of electrical wires, connected to the small battery that keeps the simple electronics on the boat running. When he touches the wires it causes a spark. He does that close to his gas soaked shirt, and it immediately catches on fire.

Sam quickly jumps into the water, and dives deep , before the boat explodes. He's hoping that this would've attracted whoever is close by.

He swims in a holding pattern, but he's getting tired and cold. He's feeling hypothermia kicking in, and his legs are getting numb. He thinks that this is the end. But then he hears the engine getting closer and closer, but he's losing feeling in his body, and it's starting to stop functioning.
He sinks in the water.

Then someone dives into the water, swims to him, wraps her arm around him and pulls him up. It's Allison. Allison swims to the boat, holding Sam in her arm. He's now almost completely unconscious. Within moments she reaches her boat, and Fr. Moses helps her pull Sam to the boat, and then he helps her on.

Fr. Moses gives them a couple of thermal blankets, as he turns the boat around and heads back. Allison warms Sam up.

                     ALLISON
You'll be alright, Sam. You'll be
        alright.

The boat floats to shore. We could see the lights of the city from afar off.

                                    END OF ACT FOUR:
